If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they're yours; if they don't, they never were. Richard Bach
I like freedom, all kinds of it! I consider free will one type of freedom and its power is magnanimous. So, I never force anyone to do something they don’t want and, in most of the cases, I leave people and animals choose me instead of choosing them myself. I believe that when others choose us, they feel a kind of energy towards us... (but this is my beautiful vision about the world. Millions of people choose animals and individuals just to take advantage of them). The energy I was speaking about is quite positive; we are receptive and they feel “attracted” to us. It’s said that animals can feel people; our fear, sadness, contentment, our (real) intentions, etc. I don’t know what you believe; I can only speak for myself and for what I saw personally.
I love animals, especially dogs. Every time I see one, I smile at them (not at the owners!!); to be more honest, when they aren't with their owners I always cuddle them. One day, a lot of years back, one of my dogs died. What a loss... I cried like a baby! I am not sure how many months have passed since his death till the day I met the dog that would "inherit" his name (was a tribute). I went to a store to buy something and a dog was walking around there; of course I smiled at him and he started wagging his tail, smiling with his eyes... This is the only love at first sight I believe and lasts until today! He was abandoned, but well treated. We spend half an hour “knowing” each other and then I picked the dog to put him into the car and left the door opened. He didn’t jump, so I brought him home... This dog and I we have a history together! ♥
A few years later, the companions of this dog died. He started to become sad and so I went in a dog kennel, hoping to bring him a little fellow. Once there, I chose the dog I wanted, but he was always running from me to play with the other dogs. Behind me it was a crybaby puppy, always crying for some attention... to be seen. Well, I saw her (she was always after me) and as she "chose" me, I brought her with me instead of the other dog. She wasn’t the dog I wanted, but I can assure you she wanted me for some reason. At least, it's how I see things. She is so sweet and my other dog always protected her. We also have a history together...
After 2 years since the adoption, I was chosen again. I simply melt in the presence of animals (not all of them...). I went a lady’s house and there were 5 puppies with their mother. I don’t know if you can see the whole picture... I sat beside them and seemed more like a child than a grown girl (so shameful, I know)! “They are so lovely”, I said to the lady. “You can take them all”, she said. The thing is that the dog had appeared there a few weeks before and the lady felt sorry and fed her. Then she gave birth and the lady couldn't pay their expenses.
Proceeding... I couldn’t bring them all, but I really wanted one so I chose a black one... You won’t believe me, but at the time to bring the puppy with me, he started running away from me to play with the other puppies. I am pretty sure he didn’t want to come... At the time, someone grabbed him and gave to me. I put him in the ground to see whether he wanted me and he run away. I wanted so much a puppy, but one that wanted to come and not because someone was forcing ... So I started calling them to see whether anyone would come to me. A playful dog came, just one, so at that exact moment I knew she was the one and that she would be very happy in her new home. And so it was (and is). She chose me and I always respect the law of free will! Animals also have will, did you know?
I can say I am a lucky girl regarding to animals, however, I can’t say the same concerning to people. I guess it’s the price we have to pay for someone’s freedom: they might leave us and never come back again. It’s their freedom and love can’t happen by using force. Now, beautiful things happen when they choose to stay with us; it’s a kind of miracle and the feeling is of pure joy and happiness. Free will is intimately related to happiness; mine, yours, of everyone!
