Millions of people have decided to be independent; emotionally free, if you prefer. Although independence may look like something positive, I can assure you it isn’t. The individuals can only be independent if they have no feelings, otherwise they will depend on others. Always! There is no midterm. Love and friendship are emotional connections, so how could people be emotionally independent? If people don’t love, they can’t be faithful. If people don’t like, how can they care for? So, what people call of independence I call of cold-blooded, unfeeling or heartless people.
Irrespective of the reasons that made people adopt this attitude, they all are closed human beings. Some are truly insensitive, others are just protecting themselves. However, even being so different, they have something in common: they have grown thorns around themselves, just to avoid being hurt by anyone. And that works!
Never forget that the wall that protects you from being hurt is keeping you apart from being happy; those thorns keep people away, sometimes they can hurt them, but you can hurt with them as well. There is always the reverse of the coin; everything we do or not, have consequences. Sometimes they are irreversible.
Do you see the bird in the picture? So are people; in this large ocean, they are fragile beings, protected by ice. They show themselves cold, unavailable, distant. The ice helps them to keep that distance, but from time to time the warmth is so consistent that melt the colossal ice cube. Then, all that remains is “a simple bird”, not so safe, but free to fly. And once he starts flying, he will realise that what was giving him safety, was also “killing” him. There is no life without fear or insecurity, like there is no one that has never been hurt. The rain can upset lots of people, but the rainbows born from it. I don’t know about you, but I like to see them so much...
And then the sun comes again...
There is no such thing as “independent people”, they just don’t have feelings which allow them to stay and fight!
